Fresno City ceremony to feature national award

Fresno City College will show off its Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup trophy — emblematic of the overall supremacy of their sports programs among the nation’s community colleges during the 2011-12 school year — at a ceremony today in the Old Administration Building West Courtyard. The unveiling is at 3 p.m. The Rams were the inaugural recipient of the JC division award after taking home state championships in wrestling, men’s basketball and men’s tennis. Fifteen of 19 teams went to the postseason play and 11 won conference titles. Another trophy ceremony is at halftime of Saturday’s 6 p.m. homecoming football game against American River.
