Division I Directors’ Cup Standings Released

CLEVELAND (April 6, 2017) – With the madness of March coming to an end, Stanford has extended its lead in the Division I Learfield Directors’ Cup standings with 962.25 total points.

The Cardinal added 218 points in part to a third place finish in women’s basketball, a fifth place finish in men’s swimming and diving and a 10th place finish in fencing.

The Division I standings currently have the Wisconsin Badgers in second with 692.00 total points (ninth in men’s basketball, 18th in men’s swimming and diving). The Ohio State Buckeyes have jumped up to third place with 664.00 total points after a second place finish in fencing, a ninth place finish in women’s basketball and a 19th place finish in men’s swimming and diving. In fourth is Michigan with 661.25 total points, thanks to a ninth place finish in men’s basketball and a 17th place finish in men’s swimming and diving. Rounding out the top five is another Big Ten school – Penn State – with 647.25 total points. The Nittany Lions finished seventh in fencing and 28th in men’s swimming and diving.

The Pac-12 and Big Ten lead all Division I conferences in the top 10 with four institutions each – Stanford (1st), USC (7th), Oregon (9th) and UCLA (10th) from the Pac-12, and Wisconsin (2nd), Ohio State (3rd), Michigan (4th) and Penn State (5th) from the Big Ten.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.

The next Division I standings will be released Thursday, April 13.
