Stanford locks up Directors’ Cup for 16th consecutive season

The recipients of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup will be honored Wednesday, with Stanford heading a list of multiple repeat winners in all divisions. The awards, which annually recognize the best overall athletic department in each NCAA division and NAIA, will be presented at a luncheon at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention in Anaheim, Calif.

With only baseball still being contested, Stanford has the Division I award locked up for the 16th consecutive season. Grand Valley State (Mich.) took the Division II crown for the seventh year in a row, and Williams (Mass.) won its 12th consecutive Division III award. Azusa (Calif.) Pacific took the cup for the NAIA for the sixth year in succession, edging Simon Fraser (British Columbia) in the closest finish among the four divisions. [More at USATODAY.com]
