Texas A&M fans have reason for optimism
Chuck Carlton (Dallas Morning News) finds Mike Sherman’s lack of ego refreshing for a big-time college football coach:
“A month ago, at a meeting of Texas A&M supporters in Dallas, Sherman opened by praising the Aggies athletic department for a strong showing in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup. He extolled the other coaches and the top programs they’ve built, while bluntly noting that football played almost no role in the top-10 result. But a self-deprecating style goes only so far.
The assembled audience was there to hear about football. Specifically, they wanted to know if A&M was ready for a step forward in Sherman’s third season and if the Aggies could even challenge Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12 South.” You can read Chuck’s full piece here
