Stanford Leads Final Fall Division I Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

CLEVELAND (Jan. 11, 2018) – Reigning champion Stanford maintains the top spot of the final fall Division I Learfield Directors’ Cup standings with 523.00 points after the football team finished 19th in the final USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.

The Penn State Nittany Lions remain in second place with 386.00 points. Wisconsin jumps two spots to thrid with 352.50 points, 73.5 of which come from a 6th place finish in football. UCLA drops one spot to fourth with 332.00 points and Michigan rounds out the top five with 319.50 points.

The Big Ten and Pac 12 lead all Division I conferences in the top 10 each with three institutions – Penn State (2nd), Wisconsin (3rd), Michigan (5th) and Michigan State (6th) for the Big Ten and Stanford (1st), UCLA (4th), USC (8th) and Colorado (9th) for the Pac-12.

To date, all nine fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s cross country – New Mexico; men’s cross country – Northern Arizona; field hockey – UConn; women’s soccer – Stanford; men’s soccer – Stanford; men’s water polo – UCLA; women’s volleyball – Nebraska; FCS football – North Dakota State; FBS football – Alabama.

The first Division I winter standings will be released Thursday, March 22.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
