Division I Winter Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings Update

CLEVELAND (April 12, 218) – After adding men’s ice hockey, Stanford remains in control of the lead in Division I by 181 points. The Cardinal has amassed 977.50 total points, with 454.50 coming in the winter.

Michigan jumped up to second after a third place finish in men’s ice hockey. The Wolverines have a total of 796.50 points, with 477.00 coming in the winter.

Penn State drops to third with 778.75 total points after a ninth place finish in men’s ice hockey. Not far behind in fourth place is Ohio State with a total of 739.00 points. With a third place finish in men’s ice hockey, the Buckeyes have added an impressive 639.00 points in the winter alone. Rounding out the top five is NC State with 663.50 total points.

The Big Ten leads all Division I conferences with four institutions in the top-10 – Michigan (2nd), Penn State (3rd), Ohio State (4th) and Wisconsin (9th).

The next Division I standings will be released Thursday, April 19, and will include National Collegiate bowling.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.
