Division II Spring Standings Updated

CLEVELAND (May 31, 2018) – In the latest Division II spring standingsGrand Valley State remains in the lead with 958.75 total points. With only the baseball championship yet to finish, GVSU looks to defend its Division II Learfield Directors’ Cup crown for a fourth consecutive year and 13th overall. The Lakers lead by only 78.75 points.

California Baptist remains in second place with 880.00 total points. The Lancers scored in five of the 12 completed spring championships, including top-15 finishes in both the women’s and men’s golf tournaments (second and 14th, respectively). In third isWest Texas A&M with 722.50 total points with three top-15 finishes in women’s and men’s outdoor track and field (6th and 15th, respectively) and women’s golf (7th). Saint Leo is in fourth place with 695.25 total points after scoring in seven of the spring championships, including a runner up finish in men’s lacrosse. Rounding out the top five for Division II is Queens (NC) with 681.00 total points after scoring in five spring championships five of the 12 completed spring championships.

The SAC and SSC lead all Division II conferences with two institutions in the top-10 each: Queens (NC) (5th) and Wingate (8th) from the SAC, and Saint Leo (4th) and Florida Southern (10th) from the SSC.

The final Division II standings will be released Thursday, June 14.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.
