Division I Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup Standings

CLEVELAND (May 16, 2019) – Guided by a championship performance in women’s water polo, the Stanford Cardinal extend their lead in the Division I Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup standings.

The Cardinal defeated USC in a rematch of the 2018 women’s water polo national collegiate championship match to extend their lead over the division with 1258.75 total points. Michigan, guided by a fifth-place finish in women’s water polo, remain in second, followed by Big Ten Conference companions Penn State and Wisconsin. After finishing the winter in 22nd, the USC Trojans jump into the top-five led by two runner-up performances in women’s water polo and beach volleyball. In sixth, Kentucky and Minnesota stay locked in a tie with 661.75 points each, followed by Ohio State in eighth and the ACC duo of Notre Dame and Virginia in ninth and 10th, respectively.

Elsewhere in the Division I standings, Long Beach State made a colossal leap from 179th to 88th, after capturing its second consecutive men’s volleyball title and third in program history. Meanwhile, USC and Hawaii lead all institutions with 205.00 points in the spring championships scored through May 12, followed by the UCLA Bruins with 183.00.

Here is the complete listing of the top-five institutions and their spring national championship finishes to date.

Men’s: Volleyball (NC) – Long Beach State

The Big Ten remains the dominate force at the conference level, leading all Division I conferences with five institutions – Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio State – in the top-10 and seven nestled among the top-25. The ACC is close behind with six schools in the top 25.
